Charcoal Paintings The Charcoal Paintings series is a body of work created according to a clearly defined process: forms are first drawn in charcoal, then erased and reworked as many times as necessary, until an image emerges from the accumulated traces that form the ground. More than stylized figures, each image rests on an initially abstract construction, from within which — in an impertinent manner — a figure emerges. These motifs — akin to emoticons — express moods or emotions, sometimes contradictory, offering a form of visual expression where words reach their limits.
